Leftover work – Pond Cleanup Day Tasks – April 6th 2024

Projects not completed from cleanup day are: 

— pull cat tails
– remove club service road plow markers and store in garage

– (optional, archery range committee leads effort to widen shooting lanes for targets 11-15, make small footbridge for waterhole)

— (optional, chainsaw and tractor to clear large white pine blow-down on logging road on north side of beaver pond)

— (optional, tractor to drag cut trees left by loggers on road above trap range to the parking lot to be cut for firewood)

Project run from 8am-2PM and optionally until for 4-5 range work

Suggest volunteers park vehicles at trap and skeet range, due to frequent traffic and movement of the tractor and ATV, along with ash from the burn pile

Rifle and pistol range closed from 9am-2PM

Breakfast: coffee, water, donuts/pastries, yogurt, handfruit, trailbar

Lunch: leftover items from breakfast, plus soda, chips, chili with toppings, egg & potato salad, coleslaw

Projects to be tackled
– clean out the fish pond shed, set it up for the Derby the following weekend
– move and store lawncare equipment out of shed, store elsewhere on the property

— move three picnic tables from the clubhouse to the pond area

— move propane grill from behind the clubhouse to the fish shed area, plus a spare propane tank from the garage

– burn pile behind the pistol range; setup hose and shed water pump to manage burn pile; needs hose and nozzle from clubhouse
– rake out any windblown target range debris from the pond edges
rake out pond edges leaves, twigs; cut down any over-growth with brush blades

– move telephone poles from pistol range road and store on rifle range
repair club service roads with york rake and gravel, scraper blade
– help fish committee move in any equipment and supplies for fishing derby ; e.g. food service, prizes
– empty fish shed trash barrels (and any nearby range barrels); retrieve barrel blown into pond
– clear back service roads by pistol range and pond to trap range for additional parking

— fish committee takes water readings for ph and alk ; runs pond well pump if water level is low
– (optional, if rifle/pistol range committee holds work day …. repair targets, range cleanup, repair berms)

– club tractor 1 (club) for road, pole movement, and fire management work
– optional, if  volunteer brings in tractor 2 (volunteer) for road and berm work
– brushsaw for pond edge and service road cutback

— hand pruners, loping shears, garden rakes
– chainsaw for sapling cutting
– club ATV (shuttle range barrels, hand tools, etc)

— club has these tools in the garage: brushsaw, swedish bow saw, rakes, shovels, loping shears, pruner

— club has fuel on hand: 40:1, 50:1 , chainsaw bar oil

— chest/hip waders to pull cattails
